Having shaved the beard and the extra pounds from Syriana, George Clooney lost no time in charming the crowds at the Los Angeles premiere of his new project The Good German.
A heavy-duty film, it features Clooney as an American journalist who goes back to post-war Berlin to find his mistress, but gets lured into a murder mystery.
Starring Cate Blanchett as Clooney's elusive ladylove, The Good German is a film noir homage by director Steven Soderbergh. It opens in pan-American theatres on December 22.
From moving pictures to still images - British actor Orlando Bloom unveiled special artworks in Los Angeles done by some of Hollywood's most prominent celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron and Martin Scorsese.
Part of the donations collected have been made towards The Film Foundation, a non-profit organisation established by Scorsese and associates to promote film preservation and film education.

Her new movie, Miss Potter premiered in London on Monday and saw the cast working the crowds despite freezing weather conditions.
Directed by Chris Noonan, Miss Potter is a biopic of the British author Beatrix Potter and follows her success and first serious relationship with her publisher, played by Ewan McGregor. Miss Potter opens in the UK in January 2007.
