Barmer: Congress President Sonia Gandhi took the coal war to the people on Thursday, slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the deadlock in Parliament at a public rally. Sonia has dared the BJP for a debate on coal blocks allocation in Parliament.

Taking on the BJP while speaking in Barmer, Sonia said, "Any difficult issue should be discussed in Parliament. It's sad that some political parties are disrupting the democratic process."

Asking the BJP to allow a debate in Parliament, Sonia said, "Opposition wants to ruin Parliamentary traditions, if there is no debate, then what is the meaning of Parliament? I appeal to everyone to respect the democratic process and allow a discussion in Parliament"

Meanwhile, Parliament remained stalled for the seventh day over the CAG report on coal blocks allocation with Opposition not budging from demanding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation.
