New Delhi: The Dreamgirl of Bollywood may have set the box office on fire but Hema Malini is yet to make her presence felt in Parliament.
And if there is anywhere you want to catch her, it has to be just 70 mm because in the corridors of power Hema Malini is just a dream, even for her own party.
“While some stars are particular, others take Parliament for granted,” BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
But it’s not just Hema Malini, the case of actors-turned-politicians is just as dismal for others as well.
- Vinod Khanna has taken sanyaas from politics
- Dharmendra's political career is in suicide mode
- Jayaprada finds little inspiration to dance her way to Parliament
- And for Govinda, there is no David Dhawan in Congress leadership to amuse his political stint.
Much as actors justify their new calling, the writing is clear on the wall – there is no business like show business.
Govinda – actor and MP, sounds good. But the story seems to end there. Many stars may have entered politics but when film offers come knocking, that’s the call they prefer to take.
