"I am so sorry Shilpa. I don't mean to be mean. It's not your fault," she reportedly told the actor after giving her a hug.
Shilpa apparently accepted the apology and said, "I know you don't mean to be mean."
However, if you thought that the big racial slugfest on the show was over with this tear jerking and bonding scene, then you are wrong. The fighting is continuing with another participant, Jade Goody, having this conversation with Shilpa.
Jade: You are a liar, a fraud and you think you are a princess!
Shilpa: What? Shut your mouth!
The latest showdown between Shilpa and her housemates was over cubes of chicken broath. It seems Jade used four cubes of chicken broath whereas Shilpa wanted her to use just one - a perfectly reasonable situation for name calling!
However, like they say, 'good or bad, all publicity is good publicity'. The producers of Celebrity Big Brother seems to be happy with the Shilpa episode as it has generated a huge amount of interest among the viewing public.
British Indian, Prajna Khanna and her Dutch husband Dirk are two people who never miss the show. Though an avid watcher of the show she may be, Prajna believes it's audiences like her who encourage what happened.
"It's not entertainment, it's toe-cringing. We should be ashamed of watching this," says she adding, "All of us should stop watching it. The responsibility falls on the viewer."
However, Dirk has a different point of view. "It's just a show, which has been thrown out of proportion, differences between class and cultures, which can be exaggerated as racial tension," says he.
While debates continue to rage, Shilpa herself has no idea of the storm she has created. Maybe she's only worrying about the Rs 3 crore while the rest of India is worrying about the Bollywood belle.
