No fun: Party goers in Bangalore arrested

Bangalore: For the youngsters in Bangalore, a fun weekend took an ugly turn on Sunday after they were arrested from a party on the outskirts of Bangalore city. 101 youngsters, including 37 foreigners were arrested by the Bangalore rural police and charged with violating the Karnataka Excise Act for illegal sale of liquor.

The police also booked them for obscene acts and songs in a public place. All of them are out on bail. The next hearing is posted for April 4th.

“All of them are now out on bail, and court will hear the case on April 4th,” says Defence Layer, Arvind Reddy.

Relatives of the accused feel that stringent late night party rules in Bangalore have forced many to move to party venues on the outskirts

“Bangalore is supposed to be a happening place, but we can't party of our own will,” says a Bangalorean.

Bangalore is a magnet for many youngsters who want a share in the IT and Biotech pie, while many argue that these youngsters are entitled to few happy hours after a hard day's work others feel that overstepping the law for fun might not be the right release.
