Goa: Scarlette's murder is having an effect not just on her family but also on Goa's nightlife — The state police has now issued orders that all beach shacks must close down by midnight and loud music be shut after 11 pm.

While it was never too early or ever too late for partying on the Goa's beaches, party time in Goa is now going to be rationed. As the Scarlette Keeling murder and other reports of attack on tourists has forced the state Police to crack down on late night revelry.

It's an appeal Goa holds for tourists who pour in from across the globe.

North Goa's Superintendent of Police, Bosco George comments on the issue, "Some people are misusing Goan hospitality under the name of tourism. So we have decided to be strict & establish total rule of law without any relaxation. Hence everything will be shut by midnight from now."

Police will be more stringent in implementing existing rules from henceforth. Beach shacks, which used to be open all night, will now close down by midnight, and no loud music will be allowed after 11PM. Patrolling of the beaches has also been increased.

"We have already registered three cases for music violation, and have arrested 42 people for moving suspiciously. 11 PSIs have been specially deposed to take care of beach security," added George.

Foreign tour operators however don't feel that these measures will hit the tourism industry.

British travel agent Alex Carter says, "There haven't been any cancellations, and there will be no long-term impact on Britons traveling to Goa."

The question however remains — with the music plugged out at 11 pm and the spirits corked at midnight will Goa remain the same?
