Patna: Three months ago, Sushil Kumar had filled in a reservation slip for Kalka Mail, wanting to make sure he reached on time for his mother-in-law's surgery in Dhanbad.

But little did the medical practicioner know that his journey would be cut short at the New Delhi Railway station.

"It is people like us who suffer," says he.

Sushil is just one among the thousands affected due to train delays and cancellations following vandalism in Bihar.

While most trains were back on track by Thursday evening, the Puri Express and the Magadh Express - that goes till Islampur in Bihar - still stand cancelled.

CPRO Northern Railways, Rajeev Saxena sought to assure passengers saying, "There will be no cancellations, though some delays are expected."

At ground zero, the anti-Raj Thackery fire refused to subside even on the day three. Protestors ransacked Motihari and Lakhisarai railway stations throwing train traffic completely out of gear.

The Northern Railways claim the situation is under control, but with Thursday's backlog, it could take a while before it's a smooth journey once again.
