Passport scam: Politicians unmasked

Hyderabad: The man accused of masterminding the fake passport scam travel agent, Rasheed Ali is now revealing how far out his network spreads.

MPs, MLAs and former ministers across political parties and across several states may all have been a part of it.

Rashid Ali is now believed to be naming names and most of them are politicians, MPs and ministers – former and serving mainly from the TDP and TRS.

The list runs into six pages – TRS MPs Ravindra Naik, Madhusudan Reddy, suspended party MP A Narendra, former TPD minister Nimmala Kistappa and ex MP Suguna Kumari – most of them any connection with Rasheed.

"I never met Rasheed," said former Andhra Pradesh minister C Krishna Yadav.

"I don't know who is Rasheed. I'm a public figure and many people meet me, but I don't know who this person is," said suspended TRS MP A Narendra.

Rasheed claims that the kingpins of the fake passports racket are Shakeel and Rajupitti, a cricket bookie and says his life is now in danger.

"The people who I've named will not leave me," said Rasheed.

Rasheed is now in custody till May 18. A Delhi police team is also likely to approach the court seeking his custody in Babubhai Katara case.

Hyderabad Police is hopeful of eliciting more information from Rasheed about this racket, once it gets his custody.

As of now, they are gearing up to arrest some politicians who have been named by Rasheed in his confessional statement.

They have also formed special teams to arrest Shakeel and Rajupitti.
