BANGALORE: This year property tax collection is likely to be a paperless transaction. Citizens can pay their property tax to BBMP through their debit and credit cards, if everything goes as planned.
BBMP Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda directed the revenue officials to prepare for property tax collection for the year 2012-13 which will start from April 1, 2012. He has directed them to make facility for e-payment where public can pay their property tax through debit as well as credit cards.
A press release from BBMP said a sum of Rs 1,250 crore has been collected as property tax in the year 2011-12. But the BBMP had expected to collect Rs 1,500 crore.
