Mumbai: After playing the silent and mysterious Subhash Nagre loosely based on Bal Thackrey in Sarkar and Sarkar Raj Amitabh Bachchan will now be producing a Marathi film under the Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL) banner.
"Every regional cinema has its own importance. We should encourage the Marathi film industry as we all are a part of the Indian film industry," says Big B.
The director of the film Umesh Kulkarni is a Maharashtrian who became famous after his first Marathi film Valu which an instant hit.
"I'm a Marathi person, my mother tongue is Marathi, so I requested them can we make it in Marathi, because that is how I would like to make it," says Kulkarni.
While Kulkarni can't believe his luck, Big B's forray into Marathi cinema seems to be another retort to his detractors for criticising him for not contributing enough to Maharshtra.
