New Delhi: He is the the man with many names - Shibu Soren, Dishum Guru, or simply Guru ji.
He doesn't mind how one refers to him as long as there is one adjective before his name - that of mukhya mantri (chief minister).
Now Guru ji, having turned the saviour of the UPA Government, is asking for his pound of flesh and he is asking daily.
The President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Shibu Soren says the UPA Government had promised to make him the chief minister of Jharkhand if he supported them in the July 22 trust vote.
The JMM leader is credited as one of the founders of the state of Jharkhand. Perhaps he realises that the chief minister's chair back home will have more longevity that any possible posts that he might extract at the Centre
Shibu says that the Congress is extending support to help him return to the state politics as is the other important constituent of the UPA Government in Jharkhand - Lalu Prasad's the RJD.
"The key lies with the independents. If Soren can convince them, then he should face no problem. My party, RJD, will support his chief ministership. But it's his responsibility to get the support, we are not involved," says Lalu.
But here lies the problem - UPA Government in Jharkhand is being supported by nine independent MLA's including the present Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Madhu Koda.
And even if two of these legislators refuse to accept Shibu Soren as the chief minister, the state government will not survive, so no wonder Madhu Koda is confident of lasting his full term.
"My government is absolutely safe. I have the support of all my allies. The final decision will be taken by the UPA leaders. I haven't received any orders from the high command yet," says Koda.
