New Delhi: Throwing shoes at politicians seems to have become the easiest language of protest in this country.
After Home Minister P Chidambaram, it is now Congress candidate Naveen Jindal who faced the ire of a school teacher in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
Jindal was addressing a meeting at his constituency in Kurukshetra when a school teacher in the audience hurled a shoe at him.
It is still unclear why the shoe was thrown.
Reacting to the incident, Jindal said, “I was really surprised. But I have personally forgiven him. I have nothing against him.”
“It would be best that such incidents should not be given importance. This is no way to protest in a democracy,” he added.
The MP also told CNN-IBN that the man was “terminated from school for bad behaviour.”
The incident comes two days after a Sikh journalist threw his shoe at the Home Minister at a press conference in Delhi.
Jindal is the sitting Congress MP from the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency and is seeking re-election.
