New Delhi: As the NDA gets set to boycott Home Minister P Chidambaram in Parliament over his alleged involvement in the 2G Scam, members of the UPA government are out defending him.

Minister of State, PMO, V Narayanasamy said, "Chidambaram has done no wrong, he is not involved in the scam."

Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh also tweeted, "Chidambaram is being targeted by BJP as he refused to slow down NIA investigation on Sanghi terror. Keep it up PC don't be bullied by them."

The NDA has decided to target Home Minister P Chidambaram on the 2G issue and there are signs of the Left and Right coming together to corner the government on price rise and black money.

The Opposition maintains it won't allow the Home Minister to speak until he agrees to step down over the 2G scam issue. Speaking to CNN-IBN, BJP MP Chandan Mitra said, "It is now known that there was an attempt to cover up Mr Chidambaram's role in the 2G scam and on every possible ground, he as no right to continue as a minister."

The Prime Minister, ahead of the winter session, however, said that he hopes that all political parties will resist boycott. "I sincerely hope that this session of Parliament will move smoothly. The government is committed to discuss all issues. All political parties would recognise we have important legislation for this country," Singh told reporters before entering the Parliament.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is also likely to make a statement on the 2G Scam in Parliament.

But, it is not just P Chidambaram and the 2G Scam that is on the Opposition's target list. The government will be also be targeted on the issue of price rise and black money.

The Left Front will move an adjournment motion in Parliament on price rise and black money. "In the Lok Sabha, we have given notices of adjournment on the issue of price rise and black money," CPI leader D Raja said.

However, Parliament Affairs Minister Pawan Bansal has ruled out admitting the adjournment motion.

The government is aware that the Opposition has got enough issues to hit out at the it, and so the government hopes to fight back by tabling bills to show its capability of governance.

The government targets at passing two bills a day during the 21-day winter session. 31 Bills are listed for passing and 23 for introductions.

The important bills slated are:

- Lokpal Bill

- Whistle blowers bill

- Judicial Standards Accountability Bill

- National Food Security Bill

- Prevention of Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill

Apart from this, the government plans major policy decisions to register its governance, which include:

- FDI in multi-brand retail

- Foreign airlines investment in civil aviation

- FDI in pension

- New manufactury policy and companies law

- Changes in telecom policy

However, it's unlikely that the Opposition will be placated or silenced.
