Leh: A month on, people search for missing folks

CNN-IBN

Leh: One month after the cloudburst hit Leh, people are still coping with the aftermath of the devastating flash floods and mudslides. Families are still hunting for their loved ones who went missing in the cloudburst tragedy.

Thirty days have passed by since the tragedy of August 5th that woke up everybody to run for lives. But there are still families who have their members missing even after a month of flash floods.

Meanwhile these hundreds of displaced people hope they have proper shelter as freezing temperatures would make it unbearable in tarpaulin tents

Solar Colony is a new site for Satellite Township, which has now the largest camp for victims mainly from the worst hit Tashi Gatsal of Choglamsar area. Even as relief materials continue to come in the greatest concern still is winter, which is just a month away.

Not just the fear of winter, agriculture after the flash flood is another matter of concern. Floods have wiped out centuries old ancestral lands on which majority of Ladakhi population depend on to grow food crops.
