Phoonk winners set for scary showdown

Mumbai: Ram Gopal Varma's Phoonk is all set to hit the theatres this Friday but before that, this film will have solo screenings for a select few.

Having taken up the challenge thrown by the makers of the film claiming it to be the scariest horror flick ever, five people will now compete for a Rs 5-lakh of prize money.

While most call it another publicity gimmick, Varma is unperturbed.

“They say it all the time, I wish them all the best and hope they have the brains to be able to think of such things,” he says.

The contestants will be made to sit in an empty theatre with cameras monitoring their every expression.

But of all the terms and conditions, there is one that doesn’t seem to be going down too well with the contestants

“There's a chit system for selection and if the first person watches the film completely, others don’t get a chance. If you want to see it from one perspective, it's a bit unfair,” says Suhail Mathur, a contestant.

So what plans do the contestants have with the prize money?

Bhopal contestant Punit Kumar says he wants a house.

Mumbai contestant Sudarshan Shetty has other plans,” My daughter is two weeks old. I will spend on her education,” he said.

After his last dud contract here's hoping RGV's spooky attempts helps him to have the last laugh this time around.
