New Delhi: Freak weather conditions claimed at least 14 lives across north India as torrential rains threw normal life out of gear in the region.
According to Met officials, cold conditions have revived due to a strong western disturbance currently lying over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas.
Uttar Pradesh: According to news agency PTI, eight persons were killed and over a dozen injured in different incidents of house collapse and lightning in UP.
While three persons were killed and one was injured as a wall collapsed in Chitrakoot town, two persons were killed and four injured in a similar incident in Varanasi.
An old man died of cold in Fatehpur while a man was killed after being struck by lightning in Barabanki.
Delhi: It was a cold and gloomy day in Capital with the chill and hailstorm forcing people to remain indoors despite it being a Sunday. The weatherman has forecast that the wet spell will continue for the next three days.

Punjab and Haryana: Heavy rain accompanied by thunder squalls lashed both the states for the second consecutive, uprooting trees, snapping telecommunication lines and crippling normal life.
The weather department said moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
Rajasthan: In Rajasthan's Ajmer district, two boys were reportedly buried alive and their sister was injured when a thatched house collapsed on them at Dev village.

A woman died in a similar incident in Srinagar village of Tonk district. Two persons were also killed in lightening in Jaipur's Kalwar town and Kishanganj of Kota district.
Heavy rains lashed western and northwestern parts of Rajasthan on Saturday night too.
Uttarakhand: However, rains in Uttarakhand brought smiles to farmers faces.

The dry spell had raised concerns over its affect on agriculture,
Higher reaches of Garhwal like Mussoorie and Almora, and other areas like Kedarnath, Chaukhama and Nanda Devi peaks received heavy snowfall during the past 24 hours.
Jammu and Kashmir: Kashmir valley experienced moderate snowfall while the plains, including Jammu city, were lashed by intermittent rains.
The hill resorts of Gulmarg, Sheshnag and Chandanwari on Pahalgam-Amarnath route experienced light to moderate snowfall since last night, officials said.
