New Delhi: The 10-day long Berlin Festival drew to a close on Sunday evening with a ceremony awarding the best in cinema.
Director Wang Quan'an's Tuya's Marriage, which follows the trials and tribulations of a young Mongolian herdswoman, bagged the Golden Bear award.
Argentina's Julio Chavez took home the best actor award for his portrayal of Juan – a man who decides to take on a new identity amidst a crisis triggered by his wife's pregnancy and his father's illness – in director Ariel Rotter's film El Otro.
And Nina Hoss was awarded the Best Actress title for her role in Christian Petzold's Yella.
Hoss plays a young woman trying to escape the harsh realities of life. She walks away from her marriage, quits her job and moves from Eastern Germany to the West but the past continues to haunt her.
On the other hand, while Joseph Cedar was named the best director for Beaufort, it was Robert De Niro's The Good Shepherd that was honoured for an outstanding artistic contribution even though it missed out on the major awards.
