Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyer Ranjan Lakhanpal on Tuesday filed a public interest litigation against Ruchika's Girhotra's school for expelling her on flimsy grounds.
The PIL has been filed to investigate the school's alleged role in driving Ruchika's to commit suicide following her molestation by former Haryana director general of police SPS Rathore.
The PIL also says Rathore should be tried for abetment to suicide under Section 305 of the Indian Penal Code.
Lakhanpal said that the PIL would be heard on January 6.
"We have demanded that all the facts and incidents that took place after the molestation which are equally important should be probed which also include 11 false cases against Ruchika's brother Ashu. Also the fact that the CBI took eight years to examine 16 witnesses needs to be probed thoroughly and those responsible for all these lapses should be taken to task," said Lakhanpal.
Ruchika was expelled from her alma mater Sacred Heart Convent School for reportedly not paying her fee. But her family and friends claim that the school had allegedly expelled Ruchika under pressure from the former Haryana top cop.
Rathore had physically abused 14-year-old Ruchika, who was also a budding tennis player. She was a student of Class X when the molestation incident took place and was soon expelled by the school management.
The Union Home Ministry has also showcaused Rathore as to why his President's Police Medal awarded in 1985 should not be withdrawn.
Not only does Rathore, convicted of molesting Ruchika, stands to lose his President's Police Medal within the next two months but the Centre is moving fast to reduce his pension.
