Mumbai: Pilgrims sleeping outside the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Central Mumbai were attacked early on Tuesday night.
As soon as the news of the attack spread, fingers were pointed at the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) who had once vowed to hit back at the Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasangh.
The Brahmin Mahasangh leader had said that he will Rs 1 crore to anyone who slapped MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
However, the MNS has denied any involvement in the attack on the pilgrims demanding an action against the Brahmin Mahasangh.
“If it is a provocation then the Government is there to act on it, the respective state government should take necessary actions according to it. My party has nothing to do with the incident,” says MNS spokesperson Shirish Parkar.
Shockingly while these pilgrims were being thrashed early on Tuesday morning, there was no sign of any police despite the Siddhivinayak temple being a security sensitive location.
It took the police close to 12 hours to even file an FIR and detain a few.
Some even saw it as a sponsored violence given the fact that the media was told about it in advance.
