Pilot compares Dausa to Jalianwala

New Delhi: The Congress MP from Dausa, Sachin Pilot, on Tuesday lashed out at the Rajasthan Government for what he called "lack of moral responsibility in the firing on the Gurjar protesters" and demanded that the state government should step down immediately for its failure to handle the situation.

"It has been 14 hours since the agitation took place and since then nobody from the government has come for help. The kind of firing that happened in Dausa has never happened before. They threw hand grenades on unarmed people," he alleged.

"I think this government has lost the moral authority to remain in power," Sachin said, targeting the Vasundhara Raje Government. "They must resign instantly and if they don't, I will implore the Central Government to intervene and impose President's rule here in Rajasthan."

The young MP compared the Dausa incident with Jalianwala Bagh and pointed out that "not even a peon, forget the CM, has visited the area so far."

As if to prove him wrong, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje visited the people injured in the clashes at the Jaipur hospital, where they are undergoing treatment later on Tuesday night.

Seven people were killed in Dausa while several others were injured in the violence. The district authorities later called in the Army to check the protestors from blocking the highway.

Six columns of the Army were rushed at around 1300 hrs from Jaipur to hold flag march on the National Highway near Dausa, State Home Secretary VS Singh said. Two police personnel have been missing in Dausa while the collector of Bundi, SS Bissa, also sustained injuries in the violence.
