New Delhi: As Air India struggles to cope with losses, a major management restructure is on the cards.

CNN-IBN had reported that the government is looking at appointing 7 new directors on the Air India Board and a global COO. Here are the contenders.

Chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata may be appointed as the chairman of the companies international advisory board.

The other members on board could be Chairman of the National Knowledge Commission, Sam Pitroda, Mentor and Chairman of the Infosys Technologies Limited, N R Narayana Murhty and Chairman and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services Limited, S Ramadorai could also be on one of the seven new board of directors.

But that’s not all. Sources say that the new management will be appointed only after some serious re-jig in the current management.

Sources say that the airline is expected to remove five functional directors from the board.

In fact five other functional directors are expected to be redeployed to other assignment.

Sources also say that the airline is also looking at appointing a new chief operating officer with global experience.

But when asked the aviation minister Praful Patel did not conform any names but admitted that an international exposure will help the airline.

So as India's national carrier grapples with losses of over Rs 5,000 crore, everyone is hoping that new management will help the airline in jetting through the turbulent times.
