New Delhi: It’s raining Hollywood stars at the 75th Venice Film Festival. And let’s begin with the biggest star of them all! Brad Pitt came in for the premiere of his latest film The Assassination Of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Starring Pitt as the legendary outlaw Jesse James, the film looks at the relationship of the US Robin Hood with his nemesis Robert Ford played by Casey Affleck.
For Pitt playing the bad guy might be quite a task but playing baby-sitter to four kids is even more taxing.
"Sleep is non-existent,” admitted Pitt. Here's hoping partner Angelina Jolie isn’t listening!
Another star who dropped by at the Festival was the Oscar-winner Charlize Theron.
The actress was joined by Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis for the screening of their film In the Valley of Elah.
Also starring Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon, the film provides a powerful commentary on how society is treating war veterans and their families. At the event the lead actress didn't mince words about her views on the Iraq war
"The decision-making process for going into Iraq was very hastily done, and I think the facts weren't there, and I just don't think you go to war for those reasons, and I think the thing that upset me most was the manipulation, that our government did towards our people,” said Charlize.
Sharp comments there, Ms. Theron.
And upping the stardust at Venice were Woody Allen and the stars of his film Cassandra’s Dream, Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor.
Allen's new film, which is being screened at the festival in the out of competition-section, is a tragedy bordering on farce.
It follows two brothers, one of whom is a chronic gambler struggling with debt and the other is in love with a beautiful actress he has just met.
The 75th Venice Film Festival comes to a close on September 8 with an awards ceremony.
