New Delhi: The Krazzy-4 music plagiarism controversy ended with filmmaker Rakesh Roshan's Film Kraft having to fish out Rs 2 crore to settle the matter out of court.
Now if every case of plagiarism was settled in crores, guess who would be penniless? Popular music composer Pritam. Almost every recent hit from the music director has been inspired.
From the foot-tapping Pehli Nazar Mein from Race is a straight lift from the Korean track Saran Hae Yo, the song Zara Zara Touch Me from the same film is copied from a Chinese song Deep within the Bamboo Grove.
Bhool Bhulaiyya's title track is a straight rip off from the Korean band JTL's My Lecon.
Though Pritam may currently be the most prolific “plagiarizer” in the film industry, it's been a regular feature in Bollywood through the years.
Truth is there hasn't been any legal action against any high-profile musicians simply because the legal owner of the original music is either not aware of the plagiarised track, or they just couldn't care.
