Play on war heroes' wives wins hearts

New Delhi: Delhi witnessed a scintillating performance in a play that showed sacrifices made by wives of defense personnel on Thursday.

An overwhelming performance by Suhashini Vasanth, wife of Late Colonel Vasant, was an attempt to showcase the trials and tribulations faced by the families of war heroes.

The play called The Silent Front, performed in the capital was conceptualised by the late colonel who lost his life leading an operation in Kashmir this July.

“He always felt that the life of a lady who needed to be just as brave as the man who went to the front, had never been significantly brought out,” says Subhasini.

The Silent Front is a tribute to soldiers' wives. It tells the story of three generations of women from pre-independent India to the Kargil war. The performance won several hearts.

“My admiration to the wives of the soldiers have increased manifold after watching the play,” says Defense Minister, AK Anthony.

“The main star of the play is a role model for army wives,” adds Chief of Army Staff, Gen J J Singh.

By making her husband's dream project a reality, Subhashini has certainly become someone all army wives can look up to.
