New Delhi: Born as Robert Allen Zimmerman, American musician Bob Dylan has turned 71 today. A hugely influential figure in American popular culture, Bob Dylan at times is described as one of the key people behind creating a social unrest of early 70s.
Some of his songs such as 'Blowing in the Wind' and 'The Times' were treated as the vocal interpretation of civil rights, and anti-war movements. 'Like a Rolling Stone' was among those songs that changed the worlds for many radical youths.
He was probably the only lyricist who had such a variety of political, social, philosophical, and literary perspectives to offer.

Robert Allen Zimmerman popularly known as Bob Dylan was not only a singer, he was a fabulous lyricist, poet and a painter.
Dylan trained himself to play the guitar and piano. After singing in high school bands, clubs Dylan was signed on by Columbia Records in October for his first album which released in early 1962.

Bob Dylan married Sara Lowndes in 1965 with whom he had four children. The couple divorced in 1977.

Dylan came with his second album 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan'. It consisted the 1960s anthem "Blowin' in the Wind".

In 1966, Dylan crashed his motorbike and was seriously injured. Although the extent of his injuries were never disclosed it is said that he broke several vertebrae in his neck. Dylan did not tour for eight years after that.

In 1985, Dylan had a daughter from his second marriage to Carol Denis and they named her Desiree Gabrielle Dennis-Dylan. Carol was a backup singer who formerly worked with him. Only to part way with her after six years.
