Pluto wins the war of words in US

New Delhi: First it was demoted from the solar system and now it has been promoted to being the word of the year by the American Dialect Society.

Now that it is no longer a planet, Pluto has been assigned number 134340 in the catalog of minor planets.

Pluto might not be a planet anymore but the word 'Pluto-ed' beat 'climate canary' to become the word of the year.

To pluto is to demote or devalue someone or something, as happened to the former planet Pluto when the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union decided Pluto no longer met its definition of a planet in August 2006.

When asked what the word meant, most people looked puzzled. However, there were some who thought it meant "funny". The word is not fun but it is definately fun to see them get plutoed for not knowing the right answer.
