New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and George Bush have injected a new lease of life into the almost dead World Trade Organisation (WTO) talks.
A British Newspaper has reported that after a phone call from Bush to Manmohan Singh, India and Brazil, have agreed to negotiate over tariffs on imports from the West.
Negotiators at the WTO headquarters in Geneva were just hours away from burying the Doha round, when WTO chief Pascal Lamy drafted new proposals after positive signs from India and Brazil.
The two countries are opposed to any tariff reduction on import from the West unless the rich countries agree to cut their agricultural subsidies substantially.
