PM may skip Anna, FDI in Independence Day speech

CNN-IBN | Updated Aug 13, 2012 at 06:57pm IST

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his speech on the Independence Day, is likely to refer to the steps taken by the government against the menace of corruption and with regard to getting back the black money stashed abroad.

However, according to sources, the speech of the Prime Minister will have no direct reference to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare or yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

The Prime Minister's speech is also likely to skip the controversial issues of foreign direct investment (FDI) and Food Security bills.

Sources have further said that the Prime Minister will speak on the drought situation and the steps taken to help farmers. He will also talk about providing healing touch to riot-hit Assam.
