Manmohan Singh to meet Aung San Suu Kyi in Yangon today

New Delhi: It's the second day of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit to Myanmar and he will be travelling to Yangon to meet pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. This will be his first meeting ever with the Nobel laureate.

Singh will be accompanied by External Affairs Minister SM Krishna. The two leaders met Myanmar's President Thein Sein on Monday.

It seems India is road to Myanmar on more practical line. India is looking at building bridges through trade and people to people contact. There is a business delegation travelling with the Prime Minsiter. Telecom and infrastructure are the key issues in the bilateral ties.

India is also looking at acting on the promises made during the visit of the President of Myanmar in 2011. India is looking at more air connectivity between the two countries.

There is talk of Imphal-Mandelay bus service, and there is also talk of an extension of the line of credit.

The Naga groups and the north eastern rebels will be discussed as well during the talks. All of these is supposed to create a better atmosphere for trade.
