PM to monitor Vidarbha progress work

Nagpur: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directed Maharashtra government officials to monitor progress of developmental works in Vidarbha region on Sunday.

The Prime Minister's directives came during a high-level review meeting on Vidarbha region's development, which he attended at Raj Bhavan.

"The Prime Minister was in particular asked about implications of environmental issues pertaining to various development projects and asked officials to find ways to speed up the work," the official said.

Singh watched 11 presentations made by district collectors and other officials on status of development work in various parts of Vidarbha region.

Several State ministers, top bureaucrats, district collectors and CEOs of Zilla Parsishads in the region, attended the review meeting.
