PNB profits jump, declares dividend

Mumbai: Punjab National Bank posted a 2.61 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 367.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, as compared to Rs 358.16 crore for the same quarter in 2005-06.

The total income increased 14.90 per cent to Rs 2,921.80 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, from Rs 2,542.79 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, the bank informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The board of directors declared a final dividend of Rs 6 on shares of Rs 10 (60 per cent) for the financial year 2005-06.

This dividend was in addition to the interim dividend of 30 per cent paid on December 19, 2005 and with the declaration of final dividend, the total dividend for the FY 2005-06 is 90 per cent.

The shares of the bank were trading at Rs 379, up 2.78 per cent at the BSE.
