Kolkata: Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, famous for her roles in movies like Sarfarosh and Hum Saath Saath Hai, got a rude shock on Thursday evening when Kolkata Police prevented her from inaugurating a lounge bar housed in an illegally constructed shopping mall in the city.
A short while after Bendre reached the venue inside a shopping mall, police told the actress that the function could not go ahead and escorted her out to her vehicle.
The police also asked all those present to vacate the place and closed down all the shops and other establishments in the mall.
A top Kolkata Municipal Corporation official later said the illegal portions of the building will be demolished.
