Police suspects terror link in Delhi firing case

New Delhi: Two days after the firing incident outside Delhi's Jama Masjid area, links to a terror outfit are fast emerging with the Indian Mujahideen as the prime suspect. A Mumbai link has also surfaced, according to the police sources.

The Delhi Police is now increasingly looking at a possible terror link. They are basing their investigations on the e-mail received that bears similarities with previous such e-mails during past serial blasts in the country.

Delhi Police sources said they are not ruling out the role of Indian Mujahideen (IM). The needle of suspicion on the outfit after the e-mail sent allegedly by IM operatives to media houses claiming responsibility. The e-mail has emerged a concrete link to Mumbai

Sources have confirmed that the e-mail sent from Mumbai and was sent from a Tata mobile phone acquired by a dealer in Western Mumbai. He is believed to be 22-years-old and had procured it on a fake ID and address. The mail was sent by hacking through a laptop a signature of the IM.

However, suspicions were strengthened further when bomb making material was found inside the car which went up in flames.

The police have also sent teams to Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, as according to them various IM Operatives in the past have had links with Azamgarh. The whole operation is being coordinated with UP Anti-Terror Squad. The police also interrogated one person, who is believed to have close links with the blast and the firing incident.

These are some of the factors police are working with to get to the bottom of the firing mystery.
