A gaze instead at the daughters of Indian democracy. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, with more than a passing resemblance to grandmother Indira, sounds more interesting than elder brother.

"He is going to be politics for many years, he is going to have many tests. Managing one election is just a small thing, it is not a big deal," she commented on Rahul's success while campaigning for Sonia Gandhi during Raebareli by-polls.

Surpiya Sule, the public-service oriented daughter of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, straight from the high- life in Singapore to the the low life in Vidharbha.
The other dutiful daughter is Poonam Mahajan, daughter of Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, who has just joined the BJP is already making the right political noises.
"I am emotionally attached to the Shiv Sena, Uddhav (Thackeray) dada, Bala Saheb, they are very close to my heart," says Poonam Mahajan.
Sons are not what they used to be — Sanjay Dutt faces trial for the Mumbai blasts; Rahul Mahajan, still tainted by drugs; Nikhil Gowda, having too much of a good time at a city hotel. No wonder, the future is looking decidedly female.
