Politician 'exposes' Karnataka CM

New Delhi/Bellary: Suspended BJP MLC, K Janardhana Reddy on Wednesday screened a CD which he claimed contained direct evidence of involvement of Karnataka Chief Minister, Home Minister, and Forest Minister in a corruption case in the mining industry.

The CD was screened for the media during a press conference called by Reddy in Bellary.

However, the event turned out to be an anti-climax as the video only had a blurred video footage and was not audible enough.

The only clear video footage shown was one in which forest Minister Chennigappa's son says that they have invested about Rs 25 crore on a building being built by a Trust named after Devegowda and his wife Chennamma.

The CD purportedly contained conversation between mine owners and an exporter over the "money collection".

After a high decibel campaign for weeks, Reddy reiterated his charge and claimed that he would release 'further evidence at a later stage.

Earlier in the day, there was high drama in Karnataka Legislative Council when Reddy tried to release the CDs but could not make the presentation as the chairman walked out of the Council.

Over the last few months, Reddy has alleged that Kumaraswamy accepted a Rs 150-crore bribe from him.

He alleged that huge money flowed into the account of Kavitha, wife of H D Balakrishna, eldest son of JDS supremo H D Devegowda and also to the accounts belonging to BSK Trading Corporation, a export house owned by the Gowda family.

Reddy has also filed a case against the CM, former Dy CM MP Prakash and Forest Minister Chennygappa.

He has also alleged that the CM's brother and minister H D Ramesh, along with other family members run an illegal mining business, stating that they are hand-in-glove with the state's mining lobby.

He has also threatened to file another case, demanding a CBI inquiry into the corruption allegations against Kumaraswamy, his family and other senior politicians.

What's in the CD?
bullet Reddy says the CD contains visuals of a big exporter who is saying that he has give crores of rupees to the Deve Gowda family.

bullet Reddy says what's the CD is a phone conversation referring to rates of iron ore which is being illegally sold (or bought).
