Politicians feel the heat after Mumbai attack

New Delhi: As the Mumbai terror attacks and the hostage crisis unfolded before the nation, politicians began visiting the Taj Hotel and the Oberoi Hotel. But what was the need for such visits?

Their address to the country failed to reassure the citizens and now India is questioning their role.

In Bangalore, father of late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan refused to meet Kerala Chief Minister and asked him to leave his house.

Wife of slain Mumbai Anti-terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare reportedly refused compensation of Rs 1 crore by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress party spokesman Sanjay Nirupam was almost mobbed after his interview with Al Jazeera.

Even resignations of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Maharastra Home Minister RR Patil are not enough.

Deshmukh was already under fire for ignoring intelligence warnings of a terror attack.

Now he faces flak for his terror tour of the Taj Hotel with film star son Ritesh and director Ram Gopal Varma.

RR Patil wrote his own political obituary with his statement, "Such small things keep happening in a big city."

Even as India angrily questions its politicians, there is the sober reminder hat it was we who chose them.

And if the Prime Minister reads out of a teleprompter, we deserve it if we show faith in this government.
