New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh, the political battle over drought relief is set to intensify.
In an effort to go one-up against UP Chief Minister Mayawati, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.
Rahul wants an Rs 8,000-crore rupee special relief package for Bundelkhand.
The Congress has been accusing the UP government with delayed response to the drought crisis.
Rahul will be visiting Bundelkhand in the first week of August.
Mayawati has declared a drought in 47 districts of the state and sought a Rs-80,000 crore package from the Centre.
