New Delhi: Most politicians deal with words when making speeches or writing notes but for Congress leaders M Veerappa Moily and H Vishwanath are much more creative.

Law Minister Moily and Vishwanath, Congress MP from Mysore, are writing books after a tough election battle.

Moily is an acclaimed novelist and poet in Kannada. He has authored over 20 books in the last 30 years. His works include an epic poem on Ramayana in seven volumes. His latest book Unleashing India hit the stands recently.

“If I don’t write, particularly literature, that is a restless day for me. My fuel is literature,” says Moily.

He is now working on another epic poem on Draupadi in Kannada and hopes to complete the 2,000-page book in a year from now.

Vishwanath, who was once Moily's Cabinet colleague, wrote two books last year. After a controversial biography, he wrote a book on vote bank politics called Vote Bazaar just a week before poll results.

"Politicians have got many things to write about. There is a writer in every politician, but they hesitate to write" says Vishwanath.

Vishwanath is now writing his third book. He also wants to set up a national forum to encourage fellow MPs to write and discuss literature.

It is not just Moily and Vishwanath, the new Labour and Employment minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge plans to a write a book on Buddhism. Kharge is considered an authority on Buddhist literature and has one of the largest collections of books on Buddhism.
