New Delhi: Anti-POSCO steel plant protests took a bizarre turn in Orissa on Thursday.

A supporter of the project was attacked, his hand chopped off and fed to dogs.

The incident took place in Jagatsinghpur district of Orissa. Those supporting the Rs 52 thousand crore industrial project say anti-POSCO activists chopped off the hand of 62 year old Natabar Khuntia and fed to dogs.

Khuntia in fact received multiple injuries in that attack. The anti-POSCO group however deny attacking the man.

The two sides have clashed at least eight times over the last one year. Khuntia's daughter says the hospital could offer little help.

Talking about the incident victim's daughter Binati says, “The doctor asked me to bring back the chopped off palm of my father so that they can try to operate on it. When I went to the people who attacked my father, they said the palm has been fed to dog."

According to Inspector-in-Charge of Kujanga police station Anil Mishra, when the pro-POSCO people were organizing a meeting along with community feast in Govindapur, some anti-POSCO supporters arrived at the spot and started pelting stones at them leading to a tension between the two groups.

Later, on Wednesday night, when one of the pro-POSCO villagers Natabar Khatua, a resident of Gobindapur under Kujanga block, was returning to his house some anti-POSCO supporters, led by Gundia Kandi attacked him with a sword.
