Bangalore: Hindustan Aeronautics and the Indian Air Force stand firm in their decision to showcase the Dhruv at the aero show, notwithstanding the fatal crash on February 2.
Te choppers of the Sarang helicopter display team will be on air for the show.
"It has been designed to survive,” said Wing Commander C D Upadhyaya, the Chief Test Pilot at HAL.
The machine in question, the Dhruv advanced light helicopter, is also what comprises of the helicopter formation display team of the Indian Air Force.
The Sarang team, though, seems to have overcome the setbacks caused by the fatal crash.
"It is unfortunate whenever such an incident happens, but we have to move on," said Upadhyaya.
With a heap of safety features built in, the Sarang team seems to have immense faith in the chopper.
Perhaps, the most robust test of the reliability of this flying machine is that it was test-flown, rigorously, for 11 years before it was inducted into the armed forces.
But it is in the very nature of aviation, that flyers have to cope with self-doubt on the most proven fields.
