Panchkula/New Delhi: Amidst an uproar over the ‘unsatisfying’ verdict in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case her family lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj on Saturday alleged her post mortem report was doctored.

He urged the Supreme Court to reopen the case and asked the state government to provide adequate compensation to Ruchika’s family.

“No amount of money can compensate them but since they have faced so much hardship as the girl died and the boy was in the jail it’s the responsibility of the state government to help them. I won’t use the word compensation but monetary help has to be given to the family. If they (state government) don’t do this on their own then we will be constrained to go to a court of law,” Ruchika’s lawyer told CNN-IBN.

Bhardwaj said the family needs money because Ruchika’s father has been suspended from his job and they should be given some interim monetary help.

The Home Ministry on Saturday slapped showcause notices on former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore - convicted in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case - asking why his police medal should not be taken away and pension reduced for allegedly abusing power.

Meanwhile, Ruchika’s friend Aradhana's father Anand Prakash and Communist Party India - (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat met Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday.

They want the state government to instruct the CBI to form a committee to probe into alleged political patronage to Rathore.

“Hooda heard me out very patiently. He said he will take action after legal consultations. Rathore should be sent to jail immediately and even Hooda agrees with me on that,” Brinda said after meeting the Haryana Chief Minister.

“Hooda agrees that the case should be reopened. I hope that he will act upon the assurance that he has given us,” she added.

“After examining (the case) legally, I think it should be revisited. It needs revisitation on the whole issue. I am fully sympathising with the family (of Ruchika),” Hooda told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday.

He said he has already given instructions to the DGP of the state to provide “full security” to the family.

“Whatever steps Haryana government has to take after legal consultations, we will take,” he said, pointing out that Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily has given an assurance that he would examine the case again.
