Post-wedding Jothika quits films

Chennai: A day after actor Suriya and Jothika tied the knot in a much talked-about wedding in Chennai, Jothika put an end to speculations about whether she will continue to act.

Like many other actresses who quit films after marriage, Jothika said she will stay away from acting.

"I will not be going back to work for some time now. We will be having a family. I'm happy to do this. I have worked for the past 10 years so now I want to do something different. Thank you all for your support," Jothika said.

Jothika and Suriya had fallen in love on the sets of Kaakha Kaakha in 2001.

The movie was a huge success thanks to the novel script and the sizzling chemistry between its stars.

Their average movie careers skyrocketed after Kaakha Kaakha and both of them won critical acclaim for their performances.

When she started off Jothika had given Bollywood a shot with Doli Sajake Rakhna but when that bombed, she turned to the southern film industry.

The south embraced her and almost all her movies like Poovellaam Ketuppaar, Khushi, Snehithiye, Kaakha Kaakha and the Rajni-starrer Chandramukhi were box office hits.

But looks like her latest with Suriya, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, will be the last fans will see of her in a long time.
