New Delhi: Thirty seven years after the 1971 war, families of Indian Prisoners of War's (POW) have left for Pakistan on Friday. They will visit 10 jails and search for their loved one.

One of those who boarded the flight of hope on Friday evening is Damayanti Tambay.

The last Damayanti saw off her husband Flight Lt Vijay Tambe was in December 1971 as he left the Air Force base in Ambala to fly to Pakistan.

On December 5, 1971, The Sunday Pakistan Observer reported that five Indian pilots were captured alive and one of the names mentioned was of Flight Lt V V Tambe.

For the last three-and-a-half decades, Damayanti left no stone unturned to find her husband.

CNN-IBN Correspondent Shreaya Dhondiyal talked to her, as she was about to board the plane.

Shreaya Dhondiyal: Mrs Tambay, when did you see your husband last?

Damayanti Tambay: Precisely on December 3, 1971.

Shreaya Dhondiyal: How will you recognise him?

Damayanti Tambay: No problem. I can recognise him in a snap if he is there.

Shreaya Dhondiyal: What are you really going there to find – it's been 37 years?

Damayanti Tambay: We will find them, we will bring them. At the moment we just want to be hopeful, go with everybody's good wishes, the country's good wishes.

Shreaya Dhondiyal: Okay, thank you.
