BHUBANESWAR: Noted singer Chitta Jena will receive the fourth Prafulla Kar Award 2012.
The award will be given away on February 16 marking the 73rd birth anniversary of the eminent singer-musician.
Kar has been charming the Odias for decades rendering hit songs with his mellifluous voice. The award was instituted by Prafulla Kar Foundation in collaboration with Khimji Jewellers. The award carries ` 20,000 in cash, a citation and a memento.
This year Pala singer Sahadev Bira will be felicitated in continuation of the practice to fete folk artistes, The award ceremony will be followed by a musical nite where popular songs of Kar will be crooned by artistes.
