Chennai: United Progressive Alliance (UPA) presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday kick-started his election campaign here by meeting DMK party president M Karunanidhi and seeking his party's support.
Reaching Chennai in the evening, Mukherjee drove straight to Karunanidhi's residence where he was accorded a rousing welcome with drum beats.
Speaking to reporters, Mukherjee said DMK was a major constitutent in both UPA-I and UPA-II.
He said he would seek the support of all the parties for his election.
