45 die as rains hit AP, Kerala
New Delhi: Heavy rains have disrupted life across many parts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and coastal Karnataka. At least 45 deaths have been reported from Andhra and Kerala.

It has been raining heavily in Rayalaseema and Telangana regions. Atleast 35 people have been killed. The state government has set up 56 relief camps. The Meteorological Department is predicting a heavy rain in the 36-48 hours.
Over 100 students are still stranded at a school marooned by flood. The government is trying to dispatch three helicopters for the rescue operations. But the bad weather in Hyderabad is delaying it.
However, Kurnool is the worst affected district. Thirty people are reported trapped in a mosque in the flooded Nandyal town in the district. Several trains have been cancelled in the Guntoor division and many highways are submerged.
The Visakhapatnam airport has been virtually non-functional since Friday. Helicopters were pressed into rescue efforts but could not fly due to bad weather.
The Army is now moving into Kurnool to help with the rescue efforts. The rains, which are expected to continue for the next 48 hours, have also disrupted life in Kerala and coastal Karnataka.
Kerala Four people have been killed in different parts of the state. Heavy rain expected to continue for another 36-48 hours.
Karnataka Rain has been lashing Coastal districts of Mangalore, Updupi and Karwar and hill districts of Kodagu in Karnataka. All rivers and streams in these districts are in spate. State capital Bangalore is unusually cool. Meteorological Department is predicting heavy-to-heavy rain in coastal and south interior Karnataka in the next 24 hours.
