Birbhum: The Durga Puja festivities are on in West Bengal and Birbhum has more than one reason to celebrate. President Pranab Mukherjee is at his village Mirati and will take part in the festivities for the next few days. This is his first visit to the village after being appointed for the country's top job.
On Sunday, he met relatives and friends along with son, Abhijeet Mukherjee, who was recently elected as the Jangipur MP. The President's sister spoke about his plans for the festival.
When asked what was different in the puja this year, his sister said, "There is a difference, all are proud of Pranab. They want to see him, meet him. I am getting so many phone calls. When I ask people he is the same old Pranab and Poltu of this village, why do they want to see him, people say they want to see him as the President."
