President Pranab Mukherjee will arrive in Dehradun on August 26 to address a convocation function of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies at Bidholi near Dehradun, official sources said. Reviewing preparations in view of the President's proposed visit, Dehradun District Magistrate R Meenakshi Sundaram asked the officials concerned to put all security measures in place well in advance.

He instructed BSNL officials to ensure that broadband connectivity should function smoothly between Jollygrant Airport and Bidholi on the day of the President's visit. Besides, computer, printer, fax and Internet facilities should be installed at "safe houses" to be built at Jollygrant and Bidholi in view of Mukherjee's visit.

The PWD officials were asked to repair the routes the President's convoy is likely to take during his visit and power corporation officials were directed to ensure proper electricity supply in the area. The DM also asked officials concerned to procure minute-to-minute details of the President's tour programme from the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun. No laxity on part of officials regarding preparations for the President's visit will be tolerated, he said.
