Click to play videoPushkar (Rajasthan): A temple priest has been arrested on charges of molesting an American tourist in the tourist town of Pushkar.
The tourist alleged the priest tried to sexually harass her, while helping her offer prayers.
The incident happened on Tuesday and the priest was arrested after a police complaint was filed.
In her FIR lodged with the Pushkar police station, the 28-year-old woman said the priest indulged in eve-teasing and molestation while she was performing puja at Papmochani temple on the banks of Pushkar lake on Tuesday, the Circle Officer (CO) Sangram Singh said.
Meanwhile, another foreigner woman has alleged that she was beaten up by locals in Pushkar, however, Singh said police has not been approached in this regard.
The temple city seems to have gained a notorious reputation for controversies related to tourists. About two years ago, a Japanese woman had alleged that five persons had raped her in a Pushkar hotel on April 2, 2006.
A year ago, Pushkar was in the news after two Israeli tourists stripped at a party.
Later, a tourist couple rubbed up the locals the wrong way when they kissed at the ghats after they got married in a Hindu ceremony.
