Nagar, the principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya School in Nasirabad in Rajasthan, says that she's being transferred to remote Nangal Bhuj because she spoke out against a sex racket in her school. According to Nagar, three girls at the school were allegedly harassed and a group of boys allegedly sodomised.
Nagar says she couldn't bring the police in because the main accused was the son of an army officer.
The five accused are now in custody and investigations are on. But Nagar says when she deposed in front of an internal inquiry committee she was given a shocking reply.
"I have acted against the law by reporting against the culprits to the police, as a principal I was not supposed to do this; it was the duty of the parents," she says.
Stunned, but determined, Nagar has now filed for a stay on the transfer order. But she is worried the case might be hushed up in her absence.
"When our efforts were bringing the desired results and when my presence in the case was very much required, I'm the backbone behind the whole story...and now efforts are being made to remove me from the whole scene," she says.
Civil rights and women's groups have also come out in the support of the feisty woman.
“The symbol of this transfer is giving her a punishment because she never asked for it, that is giving her a punishment,” says General Secretary, PUCL, Kavita Shrivastava.
No one from the Kendriya Vidayalaya Sangathan's regional office is willing to comment on camera, the Assistant Commissioner says it was the principal herself who sought the transfer and that it has nothing to do with the incident.
The matter is up for hearing in court on Friday.
